Kumble stepped down as the coach of the defending champions and decided not to accompany the West Indies for a limited over series. The series is going to kick off on June 23. Kumble also cited his meeting with ICC to avoid this tournament.
Kumble, who is also a member of ICC committee has sent his resignation to the CEO of BCCI. It was reported there was limited communication between Kumble and the captain Virat Kohli during the practice sessions of Trophy.

It was also reported by the BCCI that after a meeting between skipper Kohli and Cricket Advisory Committee, which includes Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and V.V.S. Laxman, the captain made it clear that his relationship with the coach has come to an end.
